Feasibility Study of DME as a Household Fuel

Abstract


In this letter, the feasibility study of dimethyl ether (DME) as a household fuel has been investigated. Based on the principles of gas interchangeability, LPG gas appliance has been modified into suitable DME combustion appliance. In addition, the burning effects of both fuel gases were tested and analyzed. The results indicate that comparing with LPG, the required time and the fuel consumption of DME are low for boiling the same weight and temperature water. The burning velocity and burner temperature of DME is better than LPG.
