Performance Analysis of IEEE 802.11p WAVE System in the Urban Environment
Abstract
WAVE System based on IEEE 802.11p [1] has been recently proposed for smooth communication between vehicles, between a vehicle and infrastructure, or between a vehicle and a mobile terminal [2]. The IEEE 802.11p WAVE standard was designed based on IEEE 802.11a, a wireless local area network (WLAN), and has been modified to 10 MHz bandwidth suitable for outdoor environment where interference frequently occurs. Many studies have been conducted on communication channels based on IEEE 802.11p [3]. Performance measurements under various channel environments are also areas of interest. In this study, the performance measurement for the urban environment is compared and analyzed based on the physical layers of the IEEE 802.11p WAVE standard.
