The Analysis of the Sulfur Dioxide Emissions and Economic Growth in China
Abstract
This paper applies theoretical paradigms of Environmental Kuznets Curve, and uses 11 provinces panel data of Eastern China to research the relationship between China sulfur dioxide emissions and economic growth. The result shows the relationship between economic growth and sulfur dioxide emissions is “N†type, and there are two critical points, each will be a breakthrough in relations between the two thresholds change. A period of economic growth is similar with the inverted “U†shaped relationship, but when further economic development, sulfur dioxide emissions will increase, environmental quality will worsen with economic growth. It also shows that China’s environmental pollution is not only affected by economic growth factors, but also by energy consumption, industrial structure and other factors. Through the research we found that the impact relationship of China’s economic growth and sulfur dioxide emissions, and provided a theoretical basis for China to improve economic growth and environmental quality.
