Changes of Consumption Structure of Urban Residents in Yunnan Province Based on Factor Analysis

Abstract

Consumption structure of residents is an important indicator of the improvement of people’s life quality and socio-economic conditions. In recent years, the economic development of Yunnan province has made great strides forward. In order to further study the trend of consumption structure of urban residents in Yunnan province, this paper uses the factor analysis method to analyze the changes of consumption structure of urban residents in Yunnan from 1993 to 2012. The study finds that urban residents gradually shifts to the needs of medical care, residence, transportation, communication and entertainment and cultural services after meeting the basic needs of eating, wearing and using. The trend of changes in consume is to survive and to protect necessities shifts to promote development and enjoy.
