Development and Transformation of Marine Fishery in China

Abstract

With rapid development of marine economy in China in the last 20 years, marine fishery as traditional marine industry is facing the transformation situation. This article reviewed the recent development of marine fishery in China, analyzed reasons for the transformation of marine fishery and discussed the proposals for the transformation. It is concluded that in facing the challenges of increasing contradictions in sea area utilization, deterioration of sea water quality and the uncertainty demand of international market, marine fishery should transform to develop pelagic aquaculture and promote international cooperation, develop recreational fishery in coastal city area and exploit the domestic market.
