Abstract

Writing plays a very important role in the process of language learning. However, writing has long been a headache for many learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The study attempts to see if weak consciousness of writing is one of the major reasons of writing difficulty for EFL learners since writing consciousness often has a guidance role in EFL learners’ writing process. This study discusses writing consciousness from the aspects of audience consciousness, style consciousness, text consciousness, and emotional consciousness. By observing EFL learners’ expressing desire, putting daily life as the starting point, combining reading and writing, and consciously widening the writing methods, EFL learners can improve their writing consciousness to some extent.
