Abstract

The development of new energy, represented by wind power and photovoltaic power generation, is rapid in the world since recent tens of years, and China's development is especially rapid. Integration of large-scale new energy may brought hitherto unknown changes to power system, when the installed capacity of new energy in a power grid accounted for the proportion of more than 20%, it may bring great challenges to the security operation of power system. The energy storage system provides power output or loads according to the needs, to reduce the peak valley difference, smooth load, can effectively reduce the fluctuation of new energy generation, and also can support the voltage of new energy unit, so as to enhance the fault ride through capability of new energy unit, improve the operation stability of power system. In the paper, the configuration methods of energy storage devices are studied, including equipment type, installation capacity, installation site, control strategy and so on. Simulation results show that the methods are effective.
