Effect of Load Stress Level on Fiber Break in UD Composite Lamina
Abstract
In this paper, the model for fiber break in unidirectional (UD) lamina is established based on the distribution function of fiber static strength, and in combination with experimental data, the effect of load stress on fiber break is analyzed. Analysis of the result indicates that under high stress level, the life of the UD lamina is controlled by the fiber strength itself, so it can be estimated by the static fiber strength distribution model, and under low stress level, the life of the UD board is controlled by the matrix strength and its anti-fatigue performance, and damage coupling is the major cause of fiber break.
