Study on the Performance and Control Strategy for An Electrically Assisted Turbocharger System
Abstract
This paper is focus on a designed engine electrically assisted turbocharger system (EAT) with a new type of check valve. The engine simulation model with electric assisted turbocharger system is established based on engine experiment data. Based on the established condition recognition system and the check valve opening and closing control strategy, the engine simulation model is connected with the motor model, The working simulation of the electric assisted turbocharger system with the new check valve and the traditional system with the bypass valve structure are compared when cutting in and out. The simulation results verify that fuel consumption rate have been improved almost 3g/kw.h in low speed, the air pressure significantly increased 0.5bar with EAT, and the target speed can be reached 0.5 seconds earlier. The air flow reverse does not occur when cut out. The surge tendency of the compressor in the machine reaches a more stable and excellent working state.
