Design of a Multi-module Cooperative Equalization System for Power Lithium-ion Battery Pack

Abstract


Cells inconsistency can lead to deterioration of battery performance and impact on EV mileage. Based on the characteristics of cells and modules, a novel multimodule cooperative equalization system is designed in this paper. In this system, multiple equalizers communicate with the central controller through the CAN network. Each equalizer contains a charger for charging a single cell, a resistor array for discharging each cell, and a power resistor to discharge the entire battery module. Moreover, the effective control strategy and algorithm is designed, combined with simulation and experiment, which proves that the system has good effect on improving the consistency of battery pack.
