An Improved Capacity Planning Method for Energy Storage in Photovoltaic Power Station

Abstract


Comparing with the single PV power station, the regional PV power stations can smooth fluctuation better, and battery Energy Storage Station (BESS) plays an important role for smooth photovoltaic power fluctuation, which makes it possible for regional PV power station clusters to integrate with BESS. In this paper, the operation modes of BESS have been analyzed, and the operation of participation in fluctuation smoothing is discussed. The cost optimization model is set up aiming to minimize the operating cost based on charging and discharging strategy to determine the optimal BESS capacity. The simulation analysis based on actual PV power station power data verifies the validity and reasonability of the proposed capacity planning method.
