Investigation of the Fluid-Solid Coupling Characteristics of Storage Caverns in Bedded Rock Salt
Abstract
The seepage characteristics of storage caverns in bedded rock salt were analyzed based on the fluid-solid coupling using the software Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in 3 Dimensions (FLAC3D). The relation between volumetric strain and permeability under different internal pressure, the distribution of plastic zones in surrounding rock salt and mudstone interbeds, and the trends of flux and pressure were assessed. The results can provide guidance for the safe operation of gas storage caverns in bedded rock salt.
