Identification of Sharp Horizontal Curves on Rural Roads by Simulation

Abstract


The sharp horizontal curves of the rural roads in mountainous areas have a significant influence on the stability and safety of the vehicle. The simulation method can be used to evaluate the running state of vehicles, and safety improvement measures can be taken accordingly. Based on Trucksim and Carsim, the paper establishes a vehicle dynamics simulation model represented by Jiefang truck and Wuling automobile, and a closed-loop simulation model of the driver with low speed and low traffic volume. A total of 23 simulation experiments are carried out in 2 categories based on different design parameters, and the identification criteria for sharp horizontal curves on rural roads are determined. This paper has practical value for the identification of sharp horizontal curves on rural roads.
