New ECU Attestation and Encryption Mechanism for In-Vehicle Communication

Abstract


Aiming at the secure problem of which vehicle ECU’s firmware can be easily tampered with and in-vehicle communication isn’t encrypted, a key pre-distribution system is introduced to propose an ECU attestation and in-Vehicle communication encryption mechanism. It adopts hash algorithm to attestation ECU’s integrity. And it utilizes symmetry encryption algorithm to encrypt the communication. The session keys are produced and distributed by key pre-distribution system which assure each ECU’s session key is unique. Simulation experimental results show this mechanism is low cost and has high calculating speed and high safety. And it can solve the problem of ECU’s firmware tampering, ECU forgery, replay attacks and data betray.
