An Application of Life Cycle Assessment in Carbon Emissions During Construction Phase: A Case Study of Newly-built Dormitory in Shenzhen University
Abstract
Since construction activities have produced a lot of greenhouse gases due to urban development in recent decades in China, the pressure of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction becomes increasingly severe. Based on the theory of life cycle assessment, the paper investigates carbon emissions of student dormitory in Shenzhen University during construction process using life cycle assessment method. Results of the case study demonstrate that reinforcement works is the largest source of construction carbon emissions.
